Use these tools to take on dirt.  Laminate floors are durable, beautiful, and yet not indestructible.  All floors can dull if unattended, especially if not kept clean; dirt can act as an abrasive on its surface.

This can simply be avoided by vacuuming, dust mopping or sweeping on a regular basis to remove loose grit and dirt.


Vacuum cleaner attachments are also useful to pick up dirt from between planks, tiles or along edges.

Occasionally damp mopping is suggested; however, laminate flooring can sometimes expand if exposed to excessive amounts of water.
If you damp mop, it is suggested to use a clean, dry cloth to thoroughly mop the floor.

Also, we suggest placing walk-off or doormats at every entryway to collect excessive moisture and dirt.

Do’s and don’ts you should know about. Floor protectors or glides on the bottom of your furniture can prevent scratching or abrasion from dirt on your laminate.

It’s important that you lift heavy furniture and not drag or pull it across the floor.

Putting pieces of carpet facedown underneath heavy furniture and pulling or pushing is a safe way to move it.

Complete and spot cleaning of your laminate flooring should be done using the manufacturer’s recommended products.

Never use scouring powder, steel wool or abrasive cleaners.

Do not use “mop-and-shine” products or soap-based detergents

Never flood your floor with cleaner or water.

Do not polish or wax your laminate floor.

Never try to sand or refinish your laminate floor.

Durable but not indestructible, your laminate floor can be damaged by stiletto heels.

The good news is that the finish on your laminate floor can help protect it from sunlight and typical fading that you find with aging hardwood floors.

Keep in mind that if a repair is necessary in the future, the replacement product may be a slightly different dye lot and/or texture than the initial installation.

However, keep in mind that with usage and time, the repair may blend with your original product.
